FUNDAMENTALS OF COUPLE DANCING FOR BEGINNERS (both real and “false” ones)

How on Earth do they do that, the couples who spin so fluently and effortlessly across the dance floor? And what about the dance partners who seem like they must be reading each other’s mind? Would you like to learn it, too? The long-promised course for beginners is here, at last! Lead by the kind and experienced instructor Eivilė Šimeček, you will dive into the fundamentals of correct couple holding, leading and following, turning and spinning, and explore scottish, various styles of polka, (balfolk) waltz and (French) mazurka. You will get to try everything in both dance roles, to fully understand what works in dancing – and how exactly.

Lessons will be taught in Czech or in English - according to the participants' needs. Don't worry, we will surely understand each other. Speaking won't be that important, anyway.

FOR WHOM?

This course will suit anyone who isn’t entirely confident in couple dancing and feels that they lack a solid foundation. It certainly isn’t intended only for balfolk dancers – fundamentals of communication in a couple can be transferred to other dances as well. We will be happy to welcome also those whose last dance experience dates back to preschool.

WHEN AND WHERE?

The lessons will take place from March 3rd to May 5th, every Tuesday from 6pm to 7pm at ZŠ Santoška (U Santošky 1/1007, nearby KP Smíchov). There is nothing easier than just run over to the regular Tuesday balfolk party after the lesson.

WHAT TO BRING?

Comfortable dance shoes, ideally with a flat sole or just very moderate heels.

WHAT IS THE PRICE?

1500 CZK (ca 60 EUR) for ten hour-long classes.
