Does the following situation sound familiar? You're excited to learn a new, reasonably simple mixer, and then suddenly you hear: "And then just four bars of waltz with your partner!" And you freeze, because you either didn't attend any dance classes or never learnt to waltz properly.
If you're not sure how to turn your partner without dislocating their arm, if you can‘t figure out why the steps for the Czech polka or waltz don't seem to fit their balfolk counterparts, if you suspect that mazurka cannot be followed without telepathic abilities, we have something just for you. Whether you are a complete beginner or have done a bit of balfolk now and then.
At our Tuesday "dance evenings with a bit of instruction," we usually focus on the unusual dances that are new to most people, and it is quite possible that sometimes we rely too much on knowledge that seems obvious to us after all these years. But it may not be that obvious to everyone, so we've decided to fix that.
Every other Tuesday, we will meet in KP Smíchov (Na Doubkové 2040/8) already at 6 p.m. and slowly explain how to hold and turn your partner, and also look into polka, waltz, mazurka, and anything else that we don't have time for during the standard quick instructions. And from 7 p.m., you'll be able to try it out for real at the regular Tuesday event.
We'll switch partners, roles, as well as instructors. It will only cost you a little time and CZK 50 as a contribution to the rent.
The mini course is intended especially for beginners, but we would be happy to see experienced dancers in the role of patient helpers.
We start on October 14.
